For the curious minds, here’s an unpacking of my blog’s title: messing about in complexity. It gives homage to Dave Snowden’s Cynefin Framework and the complex domain within organizations. Making progress in this space – the realm of culture, innovation and leadership – is less about training or best practices and instead requires different tools. Tools like story and sense-making that help us see the patterns in the messiness.
So on one hand this blog is my story and sense-making tool that helps me make progress in the land of complexity, and on the other it’s about messing around with orthodoxies (those unclothed emperors or large elephants-in-rooms) that are holding us back from a better future.
